Big Variety Day in Cyprus

We managed to fit a big variety of activities into our last full day in Cyprus.

I started my day with a short yoga session on our balcony overlooking the golf course and the ocean. I downloaded some free 20 minute audio sessions from YogaDownload. I used one for the first time today and it was a nice practice. It was nice to have some quiet time before the family got up.

Our next activity was a trail ride on horseback. I think Sophia was smiling the entire time. We were a little disappointed that all three of us had somebody leading us. We were let loose with a boat but not with horses. Still, it was nice to enjoy an activity that we don't get to do very much.

Next, over Sophia's strong objections we drove from where we're staying in Greek Paphos to the split city of Nicosia. We walked through the border into the Turkish controlled side. It was unsettling to go from a bustling Western city to one where men lingered about but local women were nowhere to be seen. I wish I were okay with carrying a fake designer handbag. There were all kinds of good ones to be had, however guards at the border will take away counterfeit items if they find them. It's kind of a crazy system.

On our way back we stopped at the Kourion ruins which was a complex of baths, churches, and houses overlooking the ocean. The haze in the air seemed to break a little and we saw a bit of the blue sky. Sophia noticed that some Indian men were photographing her. Very strange. Maybe it was the blond hair. A couple of people went ahead and touched it.

We finished off our day with an Italian dinner at our hotel.

As much as we've done to keep Sophia happy whe was really angry that we did not spend the day at the pool or beach. Our hotel offers a free kids' club. I guess we should have left her there but that kind of defeats the purpose of a family vacation.
