If you notice on my window sill you can barely see a poinsettia in a red pot left over from Christmas. I watched it for my neighbor while she was gone and she didn't want it back. She does want her pot back though, so I promised that she can have it back whenever she wants it, or when the poinsettia dies, whichever happens first.
I liked the spark of red this poinsettia added to my kitchen that is dominated by the greens and blues of the Polish pottery. So, I decided to do a little sewing to add more red into my kitchen. I intended to piece the kitchen mats. But, didn't have anything in my stash to mix with this red that was appropriate to go on the floor and I didn't want to buy anything new. So I didn't piece it. The result is more of an infusion of red than a splash. The eye is automatically drawn to the floor, which is not exactly what I want. So, what do I do? Put something else on the floor or add more red to the room? I'm already planning on doing some dish towels and basket liners. Not sure that is going to be enough.
