Sewing Room - Kitchen Mats

If you notice on my window sill you can barely see a poinsettia in a red pot left over from Christmas. I watched it for my neighbor while she was gone and she didn't want it back. She does want her pot back though, so I promised that she can have it back whenever she wants it, or when the poinsettia dies, whichever happens first.

I liked the spark of red this poinsettia added to my kitchen that is dominated by the greens and blues of the Polish pottery. So, I decided to do a little sewing to add more red into my kitchen. I intended to piece the kitchen mats. But, didn't have anything in my stash to mix with this red that was appropriate to go on the floor and I didn't want to buy anything new. So I didn't piece it. The result is more of an infusion of red than a splash. The eye is automatically drawn to the floor, which is not exactly what I want. So, what do I do? Put something else on the floor or add more red to the room? I'm already planning on doing some dish towels and basket liners. Not sure that is going to be enough.

Covet List - Nordstrom December Catalog

Sometimes our bulk mail arrives a little late here, so my December 2009 Nordstrom catalog came a little late. Late or not, I found some wonderful things.

Since I've had Sophie I've made it an extra special point to get dressed in real clothes every day and put on make up. I thought it would be too easy to turn into a bedraggled mom. Sweat suits don't count as real clothes. But the embroidered hoodie and drawsting pants are so pretty I could make an exception for them. Besides, it is so cold here I think I'll have to relax my old warm climate rules.

And, since I've started working it would be lovely to have this card carrier to put my business cards in. Pretty!

Covet List - Tassimo Single Serve Brewer

I love hot beverage machines that spit out your choice of warm beverages. They are popping up everywhere from the BMW dealer to the Army dining facility. I thought this machine might be a nice home option. I would get the hot chocolate and tea disks for my family but have some coffee disks on hand for guests.
